meph3There is not much that is known as far as the toxicity of the designer drug Mephedrone is concerned. Some of the side effects that have been reportedly experienced include pronounced peripheral vasoconstriction. Researchers believe that this occurs as a result of formation of a metabolite from potent vasoconstrictor 4 methylephedrine. This metabolite is a compound which is supposed to be having a lot more cardiovascular toxicity when compared with even ephedrine. There have been many reports relating to addiction from this drug and even reports of problems with its use have been found.

David Nutt, a professor from the Advisory Council of the Misuse of Drugs located in the United Kingdom says that people who are looking for a high should consider ecstacy or amphetamines instead of a drug like this, about which there is very little information. How would you know what is inside it when you are buying it? There isn’t any system with which you can test it. There are chances that it may be quite dangerous. We just do not know yet. There have been no tests of any kind on this drug either. It has never been injected into animals and so we should be careful consuming it ourselves.
