Keeping electronic medical records does not just require the purchase of a good EMR program; it also requires efficient implementation and, probably even more importantly, regular maintenance. This is why if you already have chosen and purchased one of the full-featured EMR programs and software in the market and have already implemented it, you should ensure that you are able to arrange for the proper and regular maintenance of the EMR system you have in place. There are some hospitals and medical facilities that do not completely understand the importance of maintaining an EMR system and this can actually be a very costly mistake. If you are unable to make arrangements for the regular maintenance of your EMR system, you may end up having an inefficient recordkeeping system, which can in turn, affect the way you are able to provide medical and healthcare services to your patients. Not maintaining an EMR system can also cause your system to crash due to an incompatibility with your hardware or software that has been updated. As a result, the files and records of your patients may be compromised or even lost. To maintain an EMR system, some of the things that you can do would include having an employee or a team of individuals who are knowledgeable and experienced in updating and testing EMR systems. They should have a list of the tasks that they need to perform every time they would be conducting the maintenance.

The tasks that they need to do would depend on the type of EMR program you have and the kind of facility or office you have. Aside from having a team of individuals who can perform the regular maintenance, you could also work with the EMR software vendor from where you purchased your EMR program from, particularly if regular maintenance is included in the package or the contract. Also, even if regular maintenance is not included, it is important to always consult with the vendor for any problems or concerns that you come across with as you implement and maintain the system. Another important step in maintaining an EMR system would be the regular updating of patient files and records. This is extremely important, as a properly maintained EMR system would be inefficient if the patient files and records are outdated. It would be best to set a schedule and assemble a group of employees who can do the updating on a regular basis

Choosing a good Medicare supplemental insurance provider is just as important as choosing a good Medicare supplemental insurance plan as not being able to get your plan from a reputable and established provider might not just result to getting a plan with coverage that is less than what you need but also problems when you need to avail of your coverage later on. This is why comparing Medicare supplemental insurance providers is an important step in the process of choosing a supplemental insurance policy that you can use with Medicare. You should first get information about the background of each of the insurance companies you are considering. This can now easily be done through the help of the internet as many insurance providers have websites which you can visit to have an idea of how long the company has been providing insurance plans and what kind of plans they have.

It would also help if you can get an idea on the cost of the plans that are offered by each of the insurance companies you are considering. Most of the best insurance providers are able to offer competitive rates in an effort to get more people to get a policy with them. However, make sure that you would not just be choosing a provider based on the cost of the plans that they are offering; check the benefits of the plan and the kind of assistance that the company provides as well. There are many websites which offer comparison guides and information about different insurance providers. Visiting such websites can save you a lot of time and effort in comparing and evaluating Medicare supplemental insurance companies since they are usually able to give the details about the companies and the plans they have all in one place so instead of having to visit various websites, you can just visit one or two. You can also visit blogs and forums which offer information on where to get Medigap insurance policies. Through visiting such websites, you would not just be able to get recommendations; you may also be able to get advice on which plans are best for certain personal situations which can, in turn, help you in making an informed decision.

It’s well into summer and you know what that means – Camping! But as you gather supplies for that family weekend getaway you realise you haven’t been trekking since before the kids were born – and your outdated gear sorely reflects that. So before you go, make sure you have all the proper camping equipment you’ll need and it will make for a much more pleasant holiday.

To help you choose your new gear, you may first want to assess your camping style. Will you be staying close to your auto? If so, your tent can be a good bit more elaborate than if you were hoping to hike it in. These days tents can range from simple, solo shelters to multi-room homes away from home. Will the children be sleeping in the same space? If so, be sure to allow for enough room for all – and err on the side of generosity so everyone is comfortable. Also consider where you’ll be camping and the standard weather conditions. Will you require a tent that can withstand wind gusts? If so, make sure that is part of your criteria in choosing.

And what about bedding? Will you be using foam mats? Air mattresses? Cots? This isn’t to overwhelm you, so much as to give you the chance to really think on what will make your family most comfortable. Be sure to remember sleeping bags, and also consider the temperature rating you’ll need your bedding to withstand.

Be sure to also get solid and reputable cooking equipment as well because it will help turn your outing from a comedy of errors into a fun and memorable excursion for the whole family.

You’re heading on to University and your dad’s pushing you to go into medicine, but you don’t want to be a doctor!

Even if you’re an adult and this scenario doesn’t ring true – there often seems to be a battle between the inner visionary and the pragmatist. The good news is that you can both be happy once you realise all the varied opportunities there are in big industries like health care.

Truthfully, with today’s economy as volatile as it is it doesn’t hurt to look for career fields that actually have a future. From green technology to medical jobs, there are certain careers that are thriving because there is simply more demand than is being met. With health care you can still pursue almost any field your heart desires, be it Accounting, Human Resources, Graphic Design/Marketing, Insurance – even Food and Hospitality. Look at the workings of a hospital, alone – if it was just a bunch of doctors running the show who would do all the rest of the work? And if a hospital isn’t your thing then consider all of the avenues available in private practises – from office management to sales.

With a little research you may find any number of avenues to pursue – ones that have potential for future growth and that actually interest you. Chances are you will be able to find work in the medical industry whilst still being true to yourself. And if your dad thinks it was all his idea? All the better.

Your toddler is growing up so quickly! It seems like he was just starting to walk the other day and now he’s starting to run. The problem is that the more active he becomes the more you worry if you can ever keep up.

Chronic pain doesn’t just adversely affect your body, it’s tough emotionally, too. Some days it can leave you feeling so weak and incapable of tackling the most basic tasks, let alone chasing after a little one. Your pain has caused cancelled family outings, bouts of depression, and in-house bickering because no one knows what to do. But if not for you than your child, you must try and get a handle on what triggers your pain and what can help alleviate your symptoms.

First off, you are what you eat. The foods and drinks you consume act as petrol that can either help or harm you. But unlike an automobile your engine in unique and changeable, so look at the possibility of food allergies and intolerances – even if it wasn’t an issue before. Also consider looking into herbs and supplements that may help. Like glucosamine has been reported to offer aide to many who suffer from joint pain. Before starting any new supplement be sure to talk with your physician.

And don’t be afraid to talk about your situation. Keeping silent makes a person feel isolated and alone, which can lead to depression. If possible, find a support group to join so that you can work together to find solutions.

Feel better soon!

Your daughter is gearing up to be a science whiz; she keeps taking first place in anything she takes interest in. She’s particularly intrigued by botany, just loves plants. She’s one of those teens that actually likes homework; you’re not really sure where she gets it from.

And now it’s time for your family to have a holiday. What better time to celebrate the news that your daughter’s just received a full-ride scholarship to university? So you’re taking her on a proper vacation to the countryside. You’ve heard that whilst you and the Mrs. are lounging by the pool, your daughter can take any number of braniac excursions in the woods surrounding your villa. Not exactly your idea of a vacation but your daughter is thrilled.

Thankfully, forest holidays can keep the entire family happy, no matter what your interests. Your wife wants a full-day Spa treatment, your son loves sailing, and you can’t wait to be on the lake, fishing; it’s all right because a reputable forest resort will offer all that and more. What about horseback riding, scuba diving or archery? You can also tour quaint villages and historical inns and churches, whilst your wife follows in the footsteps of her favourite author; there is no limit to the varied forms of entertainment on hand.

The best part is the surprising affordability of such a vacation – well, that and the flexibility to keep everyone happy. So go on ahead and dream – from the braniac to the fisherman.

This content was sent in by Steve Marshall, who is a payday loans specialist and works in the short term loan industry.

Many people are not aware that we humans can live just three days without water. How much water you need all depends on the amount of exercise you get, the temperature of the day and how much you weigh. Today’s research tells us that more than half of the adults don’t get the amount of water their body needs in a day. How many times do you wait until you feel thirsty before you find something to drink?

You might think this is our body’s way to telling us to drink more, but any beverage that includes caffeine will work like a diuretic and cause you to loose water instead. The same goes for alcohol, it too is a diuretic. Coffee, sodas and tea will all cause added urination and causes your body to loose water.

When you exercise, you sweat and so you must replace that lost water with more water. When you come down with a cold, your body can be dehydrated quickly and so this is why you are told to drink fluids when you’re sick. Many people will always carry water with them wherever they go and remember that water loss is not replaced with other beverages.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading independent charity dedicated to cancer research. Cancer Research carries out scientific research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. They have discovered new ways to beat cancer that together have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across the world.

Cancer Research’s TV campaigns feature real people – cancer survivors, patients and their loved ones illustrate the impact that Cancer Research UK has had on their lives. They have also featured cancer doctors in the past, whose research is funded by the organisation, to illustrate the progress they are making.

Alex Warne

Alex, 14, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2003 when he was just six. His parents took him to hospital after he lost energy and had aches in his legs and he quickly started a year of intensive chemotherapy treatment.

It was an exceptionally difficult time for the family as, three weeks after Alex’s diagnosis, his grandfather was told he had terminal pancreatic cancer and passed away five months later. After the intensive treatment, Alex underwent two and a quarter years of maintenance chemotherapy during which he had to be in a wheelchair at times.

Alex also had to have his feet straightened as the chemotherapy had overstretched his Achilles tendons. Alex is now back at school, taking part in a wide range of sports and has also developed his writing skills. He wrote a story called The Heaven Flower which was published in 2010.

Mum Julie said: “Alex is such an amazing teenager. I want other kids who are going through cancer to be inspired by Alex.” “But we will never have our carefree life back again – if there is even a slight problem of illness with Alex, I switch to the day of diagnosis again.”

If you have had thyroid trouble in the past, there is a thyroid health screening you can order or you can test to check your prostate or even your lipid profile.

All you need to do is order the test or tests that you want to take online. You will receive a form in the mail to take with you to your chosen collection lab. Depending on the type of test, two days to a week and your results will be sent to your email address for you to view. Your results will be easy to read with explanations and ranges in plain terms so you will easily understand it.
